Now, Renesas Electronics is offering also a solution for the mid-to-high-end
applications requiring high-performance: Renesass
ARM946E-S Super-Macro Design Platform.
The key part of this design platform is the ARM946E-S Super-Macro
that consists of the ARM946E-S CPU core (running
at up to 200 MHz) and an extended subsystem of
peripherals that are required to setup a high-performance
microcontroller, like a multi-port memory controller
and an 8-channel DMA controller. The ARM946E-S Super-Macro
is pre-designed and pre-verified as a hard-macro block
that can be utilized off-the-shelf for a cell-based
ASIC design. Another important part of the ARM946E-S Super-Macro
Design Platform is an FPGA-based development board
that allows functional in-system verification and
early software development, involving the CPU core,
the peripheral subsystem and the custom specific logic
at the same time.
The ARM946E-S Super-Macro Design Platform has major key advantages for high-end ASIC design: By offering an already proven macro block, Renesas frees the designers from designing and verifying the complete microcontroller subsystem and thus helps lowering inherent design risks and most important saving resources, time and cost.
The ARM946E-S Super-Macro is available for Renesas Electronics'
0.13 µm (drawn) gate length (150 nm
ITRS node) advanced CB-12 cell-based ASIC technology.
